smart EQ fortwo e-cup - Latest news for the 2019 series

After the great success of the first season, the smart EQ fortwo e-cup starts the 2019 season with some more big news - the title of ACI Sport Italian Alternative Energies Championship. It is real recognition for the 100% electric series and 2019 sees six events with two races at every event. There is over 30,000 euros of prize money up for grabs and the whole show is ready to give a new boost to the Italian motorsport scene.

Great news also on the technical front with the introduction of the new smart e-cup EVO.  Lighter by more than 80kg compared to the car that competed last season thanks to numerous technical features and carbon enhancements, the EVO will enjoy a lower centre of gravity which, together with the use of spacers on the front wheels, brings further benefits of stability and improved behaviour on the track.  The renewed Pirelli Cinturato P1 tyres will bring maximum grip and safety and we expect a marked improvement in performance compared to 2018 thanks also to new racing rims supplied by Alcar Italia. Enel X, the energy partner of the series, guarantees the power and fast recharges with innovative JuicePoles which will allow the smart e-cup to regenerate the batteries in record time. The comfort of the drivers will once again be by HRX providing the championship suits and the interior fittings of the cars.

After the spectacular preview with the parade on the e-prix of Formula E in Rome, the 2019 season will start on 3-5 May on the Vallelunga circuit continuing over the weekend of 18 and 19 May with the Misano round. The Adria track will host the third pair of races on 6 and 7 July.  After the summer break, the smart EQ fortwo e-cup will return to the Vallelunga track on 14 and 15 September, while the Magione Autodrome del Levante will host the fifth stage of the season on 26 and 27 October. Like last year, the Franciacorta track will host the grand finale on the weekend of 9 and 10 November.

Participating in the championship has never been easier, thanks to the ALL-INCLUSIVE formula of the smart EQ fortwo e-cup meaning drivers only have to think about having fun on the track in search of the best performance. It really is an all inclusive fee that includes Registration for races and the championship, rental, transport and car uplift, technical and sports personnel, tyres, electricity, insurance and hospitality access for drivers and their guests all included in the Registration fee. There is also the opportunity to take out a full insurance (without excess) allowing drivers to compete without any additional financial worries.

To embellish the already significant range of awards, the 2019 season of the smart EQ fortwo e-cup will give away 30,000 euros in prize money, with over 15,000 euros distributed in 6 allocations with an additional 14,500 euros in final prize money. The ACI Sport smart EQ fortwo e-cup 2019 series also provides drivers the ability to compete in the National Ladies Trophy  dedicated to female drivers, the National Junior Trophy for drivers up to 21 years old , the National Gentlemens Trophy designed for the most experienced drivers over 50 years of age and the new National Rookie Trophy which rewarding rookies in the motorsport world.

At the same time the live broadcast of the competitions will also be available on a large number of Facebook pages of partners, drivers, retailers and media around the world bringing the visibility of the 100% electric championship to a new level.
